Paint and Pyrography

This new collection is inspired by my love for nature, and my experiences both living in Ontario and travelling in Canada. The grain of the wood informs the flow of colours, while numerous pyrography techniques give a variety of textures and depth. Each piece is finished with a smooth resin coat, which gives the pyrography a stunning copper glow.

Pyrography is the free-handed art of decorating wood or other materials with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated object. The term means "writing with fire", from the Greek pur (fire) and graphos (writing). Varying the type of tip used, the temperature, or the way the iron is applied to the material all create different effects.
